The Agenda
In critical or meaningful situations, when everything depends on expressing complex intentions and demanding strategies or describe a challenging situation, it is worthwhile to pay more attention to one’s own language than on average occasions. It pays off to mold one’s expressions, be they written, oral or nonverbal, with special care and to give them a marked cut and a polished finish.
Furthermore, whenever one intends
- to clarify topics for oneself,
- to convince others and
- to effect change,
it is helpful and at times necessary to exchange one’s thoughts with a counterpart who is an expert in using language and who has widely contributed perspectives and solutions to strategic thinking, operational management and challenges in communication. In such situations, it is essential to check if one’s own thoughts are clear and whether they have direction and the power to convince and touch others. Using one’s language in a reflected and purposeful way enhances one’s own awareness plus that of others. Such use will be at the core of a carefully designed communicative process which is effective and has an impact on people’s behavior and actions.
Who calls on my services?
It is people in key positions, individuals, whose success depends on convincing others, who wish to make use of my services: entrepreneurs and managers in business and also decision-makers in social or academic institutions (associations, foundations, Churches, NGOs, universities). They set a high value on sharpening their intentions, on further developing their content and on communicating in such a way that they effect sustainable change. For this, they look for a
- neutral and value-based,
- experienced and competent,
- sparring-partner at eye-level
with whom they can further develop their point of view and sketch out change in a confidential manner. As an expert for language and leadership who has been socialized in the business world, gained experience in the political arena and was engaged in academia, I am consulted when, in the sequence of thinking to speaking and writing to acting, leaders are asking for a consistent wording, for convincing rhetoric and for coherent transmission into action.
The advantages will be obvious:
- you will become even clearer about your own purposes,
- you will be more convincing in a meeting with your vis-à-vis as well as during a speech or presentation,
- you will more easily be able to match your leadership behavior with your words,
- you will finally harmonize your own intentions and statements and those of your stakeholders around you and thus will prepare the ground for a smooth management of consequences.
